Seven Million Years of Fossil History
The Stout Research Center will be open for tours on Saturday, October 20 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and Sunday, October 21 from 9:00 to 12:00.
At the Stout Research Center Paleontology Laboratory, visitors will see the actual fossils we have collected and are preparing – from tiny bones seen under a microscope to a giant skull.
Watch how we prepare these fossils. We are currently working on a Mammoth, Giant Tortoise, Camels, Horses and more. Explore Anza-Borrego Desert’s seven million year collection with a guided tour through our repository, and feel free to ask our paleontologist any questions you have about our fossil history.
Tours meet at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Visitor Center for a short, guided walk to the Stout Research Center.
The event is free and open to visitors of all ages.
